Did Jesus die to give us a chance to be forgiven or did He actually forgive us our sins—past, present and future—at Calvary?
What are we as Christians proclaiming? — A lottery chance in the Darwinian setting or the divine design revealed in the truth of the evangel Ga2:5 [the truth of the gospel Ga2:5 ESVthe true message Ga2:5 CEV]: your sins have been forgiven you through His name 1Jn2:12?

The Heart of Christianity

This, I believe, is the heart of Christianity, the core event out of which the impending eon Hb6:5 [the age to come Hb6:5 ESVlife Jn6:33 manifests Ti1:3 in the present wicked eon Ga1:4 [the present evil age Ga1:4 ESV].

The wider setting of the event is the gospel of John. The more immediate setting is chapter twelve, days before the Passover Jn12:1. The actual event begins with some Greeks Jn12:20 pursuing Philip wanting to become acquainted with Jesus Jn12:21.
Our focus is on the words of Jesus in John 12:23-33, especially:
31 Now is the judging of this world. Now shall the Chief of this world be cast out. 32 And I, if I should be exalted out of the earth, shall be drawing all to Myself  Jn12:31-32

The key unlocking the secret of the evangel Ep6:19 [the mystery of the gospel Ep6:19 ESV] are the words of the apostle John in the next verse: Now this He [Jesus] said, signifying by what death He was about to be dying Jn12:33

There and Then

The gospel of John is linking two key events with the death Jn12:33 of Jesus Christ: the judging of this world Jn12:31, right there and then, and the casting out of the Chief of this world Jn12:31.
These two events are, I believe, the core claim and the heart of Christianity.
Christian gospel is announcing that (1) the end of the world judgment has already taken place in Christ Jesus Rm3:24 and (2) the Adversary Rv12:9the accuser Rv12:10—has been cast out Rv12:9 of  heaven.
The good news Is52:7 ESV of the Christian evangel Mk1:1 is that as a result of the judging of this world Jn12:31Satan Rv12:9, to accuse, has no longer access into God’s presence, because God has declared: For I shall be propitious to their injustices, And of their sins and their lawlessnesses should I under no circumstances still be reminded Hb8:12!

And enjoying the age to come life

What does the judging of this world Jn12:31 and the casting out of the Chief of this world Jn12:31—in Jesus Christ’s death Rm 6:5 and resurrection Rm 6:5—mean to a believer?

Have you ever been puzzled by the New Testament last days Ac2:17, 2Ti3:1, Hb1:2, Ja5:3, 2P3:3this generation Mt23:36, Mt24:34, Lk11:29-32, last hour 1J2:18 references? Have you wondered why the early church got it ‘wrong’ when they anticipated Christ’s return in their time?
Is it possible that all these references are a reality in the daily lives of believers because to them the consummation 1C15:24 [the end (the completion) 1C15:24 AMP] of the world has already taken place— in Jesus Christ Ga2:16?!
Because All the kingdoms of the world and their glory Mt4:8 have passed away Rv21:4in Christ 2C517-19

By faith—and through the testing Ro12:2, 1C3:13, Ga6:4, Ep5:10, Ph1:10, 1Th5:21 of faith Hb11:1,13—believers are in the present evil age Ga1:4 ESV benefiting from and enjoying the powers of the age to come Hb6:5 ESV! All because the promise which came by God to our fathers Ac26:6—that the just one by his faith shall live Hk2:4God has fully fulfilled Ac13:33

The future (the age to come Mt12:32, Mk10:30, Lk18:30, Ep1:21, Hb6:5 ESVlife Jn6:33 has arrived. — It is here!— Now, in Jesus Christ Ga3:22.
        It is a present reality.
It is the [faith substantiated] present truth2P1:12, because those who are believing Ga3:22 have already proceeded out of death into life Jn5:24!

But has proceeded out of death into life

Verily, verily, I [Jesus, the Son Jn5:23] am saying to you that he who is hearing My word and believing Him [God, the Father Jn5:23] Who sends Me, has [now] life eonian and is not coming into judging, but has proceeded out of death into life Jn5:24.

If you are honoring the Father Jn5:25 by believing Him Who sends Jn5:24 Jesus Christ —
1/ You are not coming into judging Jn5:24! — In Christ, you have already taken part in a future event. You are not dreading it, because you already have the verdict.
2/ You have already proceeded out of death into lifeJn5:24!! — You are presently benefiting from a historically future event. Genuine Christian life is not a matter of blind faith, but a more than conquering Ro8:37 life—of eonian Jn5:24 quality—empirically evidenced, daily.

All because 9 … the great dragon was cast out, the ancient serpent called Adversary and Satan, who is deceiving the whole inhabited earth. It was cast into the earth, and its messengers were cast with it.
10 And I hear a loud voice in heaven saying, “Just now came the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ, for the accuser of our brethren was cast out, who was accusing them before our God day and night.”

And the Transferrer of Days sat down

This, I believe, is what took place when Jesus Christ was crucified.

9 I was perceiving until thrones were situated, and the Transferrer of Days sat down. His clothing was pale as snow, and the hair of His head was like immaculate wool; His throne was flares of flame and its wheels a flashing flame. 10 A stream of flame was flowing and issuing from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him, and ten thousand ten thousands stood before Him.
Adjudication was seated, and the scrolls are opened.

Christians believe that the whole world was judged when Jesus Christ died as the flawless and unspotted 1P1:19 Lamb of God Which is taking away the sin of the world! Jn1:29

Not even one

The apostle Paul gives us the final verdict of the Lawgiver and JudgeJa4:12. After a thorough examination of the records the Judge of the entire earth Gn18:25 declared

        All [are] under sin Rm3:9!
10 “Not one is just”—not even one. 11 Not one is understanding. Not one is seeking out God Rm3:10-11
The prophet Isaiah agrees. All of us, like a flock, have strayed; Each to his own way, we have turned around. Is53:6

So, what will the righteous Judge Ps7:11 do?

In due time Ro5:6 KJV—in the process of accomplishing His desire for the manifestation of the impervious to evil humanity—He will manifest His character in the compassion Is30:18 generated grace Is30:18. — For the law through Moses was given; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. Jn1:17

Crushed because of our depravities

Yet He was wounded because of our transgressions, And crushed because of our depravities. The discipline of our well-being was on Him, And by His welts comes healing for us. Is53:5

It is important that you enter into this scene with all your heart Jr29:13.

This is an eschatological event: an end of the world scene.
The good and evil history of the world is over. — Finito. Kaput. — The long awaited end of the world has come. You are merely one of a great multitude Rv7:9 before God, the Judge of all Hb12:23, as the scrolls are opened Dn7:9-10. Beginning with the first man, Adam 1C15:45  and Eve, the whole world is being judged … and is found wanting, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God Rm3:23ESV.
One by one, before your eyes, God is placing sins of every single person in the whole world—including your sin, when your turn to be judged finally arrived—upon His Son.
And then, the last [human of] Adam [lineage] 1C15:45 is judged!

Picture sin for a moment as a heavy burden and answer this question. At that particular moment in the judgment process, how many humans are carrying the burden Mt20:12 of sin?
None! — Right? — Because Yahweh Himself causes the depravity of us all to come upon Him Is53:6

Now, turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face … What do you see?
Love! — Right? — Because the sin of the whole world is upon His shoulders. Because with our depravities he Himself shall be burdened Is53:11.

See, I cause your depravity to pass off you

The prophet Zechariah describes the judgment scene in more detail.

1 Then He [Yahweh] is showing me Joshua, the great priest, standing before the messenger of Yahweh, and Satan, standing at his right, for his adversary.

2 And Yahweh is saying to Satan,
Yahweh is rebuking you, Satan. And Yahweh Who is choosing Jerusalem is rebuking you. Is not this wooden poker being rescued from the fire?

3 Yet Joshua comes to be clothed in filthy garments, and is standing before the messenger.
4 And He [Yahweh] is answering and is saying to those standing before him, saying,
Take away the filthy garments off him.

And He [Yahweh] is saying to him [Joshua],
See, I cause your depravity to pass off you, and will clothe you with the costumes

5 And He [Yahweh] is saying,
Let them place a clean turban on his head.
And they are placing the clean turban on his head and are clothing him in garments.

He makes to be a sin offering

For the One [Jesus, the Son Jn5:23] not knowing sin, He [God, the Father Jn5:23] makes to be a sin offering for our sakes that we may be becoming God’s righteousness in Him [Christ]. 2C5:21

Crucial to Christian faith is the concept of a flawless Lv3:1,6 and unspotted lamb 1P1:19 that is sacrificed on the altar—representing Jesus Christ as the One not knowing sin 2C5:21
Death Ho13:14 has no power over Him, as long as He is without sin Jn8:7, Hb4:15
        However —
Once our sins were placed on Jesus Christ, He became subject to Death and He died—because of our sins and with our sins—taking the sin of the whole world 1J2:2 with Him to the grave.

He is seated at the right hand of the Majesty

Why is the resurrection Mt22:23 so fundamental to Christianity?
A sum total of the Christian good news is that Christ, prior to His death and after resurrection is without sin Hb4:15.

Prior to His death He was able to ask, Can any one of you convict me of a single misleading word, a single sinful act? Jn8:46 MSG Clearly, Jesus believed that He was without sin, but, how do we know that after His resurrection He was still without sin?
If a single sin was found in or upon Jesus after His resurrection, He would not be able to enter the presence of God unblamable in holiness in front of our God and Father 1Th3:13. Neither would we be blameless in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ! 1Th5:23

His resurrection and ascension are empirical realities that the poor Mt5:3 in spirit Mt5:3those who mourn now Mt5:4the meek Mt5:5those who are hungering and thirsting for righteousness Mt5:6the merciful Mt5:7, the clean in heart Mt5:8the peacemakers Mt5:9—are daily verifying.

Looking at the Cross you should see your sin—past, present and future!—and the sin of the whole world!!—nailed to the cross Co2:14. But, after the resurrection, Jesus Christ is without sin, forasmuch as it was not possible for Him to be held by Ac2:24 Death 1C15:54
Never forget, Death would have held Him if she could—if a single sin was found upon Him—for Death has the power of sin 1C15:56!!

Is it any wonder that the apostle Paul is combining Isaiah 25:8 and Hosea 13:14 to declare triumphantly —
54 Swallowed up was Death by Victory. 55 Where, O Death, is your victory? Where, O Death, is your sting? 1C15:54-55

As in heaven, on earth also

It is a glorious news that Jesus Christ making a cleansing of sins, is seated [without sin Hb4:15] at the right hand of the Majesty in the heights Hb1:3.
Essentially it means that the without sin Hb4:15 status quo of heaven has been maintained on earth. Our Thy kingdom come … as in heaven, on earth also Mt6:10 daily prayer, has been answered.
Sin is dealt with fully and successfully.

18 Who is an El like You, bearing with depravity, And passing over transgression, for the remnant of His allotment? He does not hold fast His anger for the future, for He delights in benignity. 19 He shall have compassion on us again; He will subdue our depravities. And You shall fling into the shadowy depths of the sea all our sins. Mi7:18-19

Our conclusion of the eons testimony

A Christian’s resurrection testimony is the conclusion of the eons Hb9:26 [the culmination of the ages Hb9:26 NIV] testimony: a post-judgment testimony.
In and through Jesus Christ we experience the end of the world Hb9:26KJV and we cross over, out of death into life Jn5:24.

        Knowing this
[personal crossing over Dt32:47 experience and], that our old humanity was crucified with Him, that the body of Sin may be nullified Ro6:6, we are testifying by our daily lives the reality of our triumph in Christ 2C2:14, the reality of that end of the world Hb9:26KJV experience: the reality of us by no means to be still slaving for Sin Ro6:6
To us it is a real event.
In spirit Jn4:24, by faith, we have been with Jesus Christ when He was judged. We have observed our sin placed on Him, and can never forget the burdens are lifted at Calvary moment of freedomGa5:1—our crossing over the Jordan Dt32:47 event.
And by faith we worship in spirit and truth Jn4:24. Our worship being a testimony to the truth that we have been with Jesus when He was judged and crucified.

Clothed in white robes

During the judgment Rv14:7—as we gazed in awe upon the sin-stripped multitude Rv7:9—a naked Gn2:25 world Jn3:17 standing before the Judge, without sinHb4:15—we also became aware that He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world 1J2:2 NIV.
World nakedness Rv3:18, turns out, is just a fleeting moment Is54:7

After this I [together with John] looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands … Rv7:9

God’s righteousness in Him

And now all that we want to talk about is Jesus exalted out of the earth Jn12:32 and Him drawing Jn12:32 all humanity Ti2:11 to Himself.

17 So that, if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: the primitive passed by.
        Lo! there has come new!
18 Yet all is of God, Who conciliates us to Himself through Christ, and is giving us the dispensation of the conciliation, 19 how that God was in Christ, conciliating the world to Himself, not reckoning their offenses to them, and placing in us the word of the conciliation.
20 For Christ, then, are we ambassadors, as of God entreating through us. We are beseeching for Christ’s sake, “Be conciliated to God!”
21 For the One not knowing sin, He makes to be a sin offering for our sakes that we may be becoming God’s righteousness in Him. 2C5:16-21
